Dance in Motion

For this project I really struggled because I don’t like creating or taking pictures of things that don’t look real.  It has no appeal to me in any way and it is nothing I would buy or hang in my home.  Never the less I thought of this idea for a project.  My friend Whitt was trying to teach me some stretching and beginning Ballet things, which if you know me, was a epic fail, so as I was laying on the dance hall floor wincing in pain, I noticed the grace and precision Whitt took with each movement and pulled out my camera and started taking pictures.  I then got the idea to layer the pictures on top of them and make those layers have a lower opacity.  Surprisingly, after 6 hrs of cussing and screaming at the computer, it turned out ok.

For my first night photo, I took pictures of the jack-o-lanterns outside out room after dark.  I was drawn to this because  just the light and color vibrancy they were giving off was very eye catching.
For my second photo, we were trying to get pictures of orbs in a Cemetery, instead I got some very interesting lines from the street lights and car head lights.
My goals were to capture the essence of Halloween with the jack-o-lanterns and the other was just an oops.

This project started out as taking individual pictures of the equestrian team, in hopes to get them put on the Rocky Website, so people actually knew we had an Equestrian Team.  So we wanted them to look as professional as possible.  So all 30 members put on their show cloths from the waist up, because chaps are no fun to try and squeeze into unless you have to, slapped on our “show make-up”, pulled back our hair and put on our hats.
Our course several of the members just wanted to get their pictures taken and get the heck out of dodge, but others like Meredith Burton and Kayla Walters, were enjoying the experience and trying to show everyone what a good time we can have.  Basically I just told them to goof around and I would take pictures.  I used a tripod, and natural light (since the pictures were taken outside of Mortkim).
